Tooth grafting simulation using 3D-optical modeling

Traditionally, surgery required teeth to be shaved for bite adjustment. Especially in the case of frozen teeth transplantation, the only way to do this was to shave the teeth after transplantation. However, with the use of a model elaborately reproduced by optical modeling, it is possible to verify the bite and grinding of the teeth before implantation.

Wisdom teeth to be used as transplanted teeth are photographed with a CT scanner, reconstructed as 3D data, and fabricated into an elaborate three-dimensional model using optical modeling. CT and MRI images can be converted into 3D data, which can then be fabricated into a three-dimensional model using optical modeling.

This is how we use optical products.

The optical modeling of the maxillary bone and wisdom teeth made it possible to transplant the anterior teeth, which was previously thought to be impossible. The patient is a 19-year-old male who lost his two front teeth due to a bicycle fall. We considered transplanting bicuspids and other teeth, but the orthodontist judged that it would be difficult, and the only possibility was to transplant the implanted wisdom teeth. With the approval of the family and the patient, the transplant was performed, the anterior tooth shape was restored, and the progress has been good since then.
